Pre Animation and Illustration

Pre Animation and Illustration

[MUSIC] My name is Rich Lauzon,
I am the coordinator for Pre-Animation and Illustration. A new student coming into the program
would basically learn how to draw better. That’s essentially what
the goal of this program is. So, whether composition, perspective,
or a building of character, we try to build a solid drawing foundation
and then, eventually, a solid portfolio. Some of our successful
grads have got moved on to the animation program here
at Algonquin College. Others have moved onto other programs
such as illustration and concept art. And after taking those courses have moved
on to working in studios all across Ottawa, as well as Toronto, Montreal. We’ve made agreements with the animation
program, and the illustration and concept art program. That agreement is basically this, if you
have a B average in all the courses, and a B+ average in the portfolio
preparation course, and you’ve applied on time on the Ontario
College’s website, you are automatically accepted into the said program,
without the need of a portfolio. The best kind of student for our program
are students who enjoy, drawing and are creative, imaginative,
and have the ability to draw, the manual dexterity to draw,
and can also observe life and take elements from that and
come up with something new. [MUSIC]
