Animation for Animatronics – Part 1 – PREVIEW

Music Playing Craig Caton: Hi, I’m Craig Caton for the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. Welcome to Animation for Animatronics Part
1. In this course, I’m going to show you how
to take animation from the computer using AutoDesk Maya and transfer it to an Animatronic head. What I’m attempting to do here is to eliminate the problems that I’d seen with other systems and create my own system that’s a lot more user-friendly. Today we’re gonna get started by going over a brief description of the course components which include things like the Pololu Maestro
controller and also the controller software. We’re gonna take a close up look at my AnimServo
software and how to install that and get that going. And then we’re gonna take a real brief, basic
look at Maya. If you don’t know anything about Maya, this is the place for you. We’re gonna teach you from the ground up. After we finish the basics of Maya, we’re gonna jump into animating in Maya. So I’m gonna show you a lot of the cool tools that Maya has for creating animations. I’m really excited to get started on this
course. There’s a lot of really cool, brand new things that I created just for you guys and let’s get going.
